Long Story Short
- Men ignore their health
- 48% of men will discuss their health with their spouse before their doctor.
- Only 5% of men will discuss their bedroom issues with their male friends
- 60% of men won’t visit their doctor for a serious health issue
- Silver Lining! 19% of men will go to the doctor to stop their loved one from ‘nagging’.
Unless he’s has come in close contact with the Grim Reaper, men don’t visit their doctor for health issues. BUT! This is where you ladies become pivotal, 48% of men will discuss their health issue with their spouse before seeing their doctor.
I am not making these up. A survey from the Cleveland Clinic questioned over 500 men between 18 and 70 years old, and found most men don’t visit their doctor. Only 42% of men (about 2 in 5) will visit their doctor if they have a serious health issue. This means about 60% of men won’t visit their doctor if they have a serious health issue.
They are less comfortable discussing more serious issues, such as gastrointestinal problems (7%), problems in the bedroom (5%) or urinary issues (3%).
If you think your husband/partner is thick-headed, your input matters! About 19% of men will go to the doctor to stop their loved one from ‘nagging’. Nag away my friends!
Men need to pay more attention to their health, but we know men aren’t fond of visiting their physician. This is why I believe women are the key to a man’s health, the Trojan horse you may say, to get a man healthy.
Men’s health isn’t just physical, its psychology too. As a male health expert (and a man), I know how men think and I know their reservations and I know what it takes to get them to better their health.
